Artist's Description

The Rocky Mountain Arsenal is close to Denver; in fact, you can see the Denver skyline, along with the front range Rocky Mountains. I was a bit disconcerted as I drove through traffic on I-70 then through Commerce City. I am used to driving into wilderness, but for this drive, I felt like I was going to a mall to photograph. Okay, there was the sign for Rocky Mountain Arsenal, Wildlife Refuge, and as it turned out, the refuge was darn close to a huge mall! Disappointment flooded my veins! As I drove, I realized that once you get into the refuge, it is pretty remote and interesting. The Arsenal was supposedly one of the most polluted pieces of land on earth--a place where serine gas was made, along with other extremely toxic wartime materials! As I turn the corner to park, I hear the call of many prairie dogs and the trail I begin my journey on is actually strait through a prairie dog town. This is just the beginning of the wildlife that thrives in this now healthy thriving habitat! Wh...

Well, I guess it's time to tell about myself! I have always been a photographer/artist, but somehow ended up getting an undergraduate degee in psychology and a masters in teaching curriculum. I have taught middle school language arts for 13 years, as well as digital photography as an elective. Years ago, I attended Bucks County Community College, a well know art and photography school, where some pretty famous photographers had taught. Then I attended the School of Visual Arts in NYC, so I have had some training in photography, but like anything else, unless you are out there making mistakes you will not become a decent photographer.
