Description
Beautiful lakes that seem to go on forever, and fall is already reaching this valley, even though it is still summer. The hike down into this magical valley, is difficult and sometimes treacherous, but it is so worth the pain. With the sky so turbulent and sudden weather changes, you must be aware of your movement because the rock can get very slippery. This capture was taken on our way back up the valley when I suddenly turned to take one last look and I was surprised by the late day sun filtering through!

The lakes are called Pater Noster lakes, or "Our Fatther" lakes, since they resemble Rosary Beads. These lakes are one of five characteristics of glaciated areas. The second one is classic U-shaped valleys (seen clearly here). The other three characteristics are not evident as much or at all in this photograph.
